Broadcast Production for Albany Pro Musica

MARCH 14, 2021

In 2020, we had the fortunate opportunity to produce two, 60 minute programs for Albany Pro Musica’s 40th Anniversary celebration. Each was subsequently broadcast on WMHT. Lets break down how we did it.

As a full service video production company, we can handle a lot. Everything ranging from branded content, corporate video, and even commercial production for broadcast. Producing not one, but two hour long programs for broadcast on WMHT was right up our alley.

2020 was full of unprecedented challenges, for, well, reasons that everyone knows. Navigating a worldwide pandemic while attempting to maintain a career was nearly impossible. The need for virtual and online events skyrocketed, and production companies like us needed to adapt.

Albany Pro Musica wanted to create long-form content for their 40th Anniversary Celebration. The first program, ‘A Capital Region Renaissance’, premiered Oct 18th, 2020 on WMHT. Highlighting a diverse portfolio of performances, it also focused on the critical role of art in our local community.

Groups of smaller ensembles performed in a socially distant fashion. Larger performances we’re captured in naturally larger spaces.
To feature the beauty of the area, we captured six locations around the Capital Region. These included Albany’s Capital Building, The Stockade District, Prospect Mountain, Troy Savings Bank Music Hall, SPAC, and Indian Ladder Farms.

The second program, ‘Celtic Dreams’, features traditionally inspired music from the British Isles performed by The Musicians Of Ma’alwyck. This program explores the rich heritage of Celtic and American folk music, and its profound impact on the Capital Region.

Getting these two programs to broadcast was no small task. Once each was complete, we had to ensure they were up to various specifications, formatted specifically for TV. These included proper frame rate, loudness, length, and precise captioning. This may sound pretty simple on the outside, but trust us, it requires extreme attention to detail.
As the world opens back up, we’ll continue to create new content, for all avenues of art and industry.
